Art galleries in the Madison area: good to know

Madison's gallery scene includes downtown and east-side galleries, artist studios and craft shops, many showing local and Wisconsin artists. Gallery nights and open studio tours are the easiest way to see a lot at once.

Many studios are open by appointment only, so call ahead. Buying directly from a local artist or gallery supports the arts community, and many artists take commissions.
