Ask to hear firstQuestions owners ask
Is claiming really free?
Yes. Claiming and editing your listing, adding photos and receiving messages are free, and will stay free. Later we'll offer optional paid upgrades such as featured placement, and you'll never be charged for anything you didn't choose.
How did my business get listed?
Our starting list comes from Overture Maps Foundation open data, filtered to businesses in the Madison area with a working phone number or website. People can also suggest businesses, which we review by hand.
How do you confirm I'm the owner?
Sign in with your email. If your address is at your business's own website domain (you@yourbusiness.com), you're approved instantly. Otherwise we confirm by other means, usually a call to the number on the listing, and email you when you're set.
Someone else already claimed my listing. What now?
Contact us and choose “Claiming or managing my business.” We'll sort out who should have access.
Can I have my listing removed?
If the business has closed, or the listing is wrong, yes. Use “Report this listing” at the bottom of it, or contact us. Accurate listings for operating businesses generally stay up, because they help people find you, but you're always welcome to manage what they say.
Can I ask customers to recommend me?
Yes. Happy customers can leave a short recommendation from your listing page, and we approve each one before it appears. Please don't offer anything in exchange, and don't write them yourself or ask staff or family to: we remove those.
What does featured placement mean?
When it launches, featured businesses appear at the top of their category page with a highlighted card. We'll cap it at three per category so it stays meaningful. It's always labeled, and it never buys an editor's note.
