Watching sports in Madison, WI: Badgers, Capitols hockey, Mallards and more (2026–27)

Madison is a sports town all year: Badgers football fills Camp Randall in the fall, the Kohl Center hums through winter, and summer belongs to Mallards baseball and Forward Madison soccer. Schedules and prices below were checked with the teams in November 2026. Buy from the team's own site or ticket office (or its official resale partner) to avoid marked-up resale tickets.

Badgers football

  • Camp Randall Stadium, 1440 Monroe St. The last two home games of 2026: Rutgers on Saturday, November 7 (3:15 p.m.) and Minnesota for Paul Bunyan's Axe on Friday, November 27 (6:30 p.m., on NBC). Single-game tickets for those two run about $45 to $85 with fees.
  • Traditions: Jump Around between the third and fourth quarters, the UW Marching Band's Fifth Quarter after the game, win or lose, and the free Badger Bash pre-game party at Union South.
  • Know before you go: tickets are mobile-only in the Badgers app, the stadium has a clear-bag policy (no backpacks), concessions are cashless, and Monroe Street closes five hours before kickoff. Our game day guide covers parking, the shuttle and bags.

Badgers basketball, hockey, volleyball and wrestling

  • Men's basketball at the Kohl Center, 601 W. Dayton St.: the season opens at home November 2. Big Ten home games include Purdue (December 8), Illinois (January 2), Minnesota (January 9, 11 a.m.), Michigan (February 6) and Nebraska (March 3, the home finale). Non-conference tickets start around $18.50; the biggest Big Ten games top $180.
  • Women's basketball also plays at the Kohl Center, November through February, with some of the most affordable tickets on campus (last season general admission was about $10).
  • Men's hockey plays October to March at the Kohl Center, including Omaha on December 10 and 11 and Michigan on February 18; check the schedule for every home weekend. On February 20, 2027, both the men's and women's teams play Michigan and Ohio State outdoors at Lambeau Field in Green Bay for the Frozen Tundra Faceoff.
  • Women's hockey at LaBahn Arena, 105 E. Campus Mall: single games are $15 to $40, and the season runs through February, with the WCHA playoffs starting February 26.
  • Volleyball at the UW Field House, 1450 Monroe St.: the last home matches of the regular season are Michigan State (November 5), Penn State (November 8) and Northwestern (November 17).
  • Wrestling hosts Army at the Field House on November 9 (6 p.m.) and Princeton at Oregon High School on November 20; Big Ten duals with Minnesota, Rutgers, Iowa and Illinois follow from January to mid-February.
  • Tickets and bags: UWBadgers.com or 608-262-1440. The Kohl Center, LaBahn Arena and Field House aren't clear-bag venues, but bags must be 8.5 by 11 inches or smaller, and backpacks aren't allowed.

Madison Capitols hockey (new arena in DeForest)

  • The Madison Capitols, Madison's USHL junior hockey team, have moved to the new LEGACY20 Arena at DeForest Yards, with about 3,000 seats, a sports bar, a covered outdoor rink and free parking. The first game in DeForest is Friday, November 13, 2026, against the Green Bay Gamblers (7:05 p.m.), and the season runs into early April, including a New Year's Day home game against Dubuque.

More winter sports

  • LOVB Madison: professional women's volleyball at the Alliant Energy Center, 1919 Alliant Energy Center Way. Its first season ran January to April 2026; League One Volleyball's 2027 season starts in mid-December, and Madison's dates will be on lovb.com.
  • Madison Roller Derby: doubleheader bouts from October to February (doors at 4 p.m., first game at 5), with remaining dates November 21, December 12, January 23 (semifinals) and February 27 (championship). Last season's bouts were at the Alliant Energy Center, with adult tickets around $20; check madisonrollerderby.org for this season's venue and prices.
  • Madison College WolfPack basketball opens at home November 5.

Summer: baseball, soccer and ultimate

  • Madison Mallards: Northwoods League summer baseball for college players at Warner Park, "the Duck Pond," from Memorial Day weekend to early August. The right-field Duck Blind party deck sells all-you-can-eat-and-drink packages. The park's lot fills on game nights, so come early or bike.
  • Madison Night Mares: Northwoods League summer softball, also at the Duck Pond, June to early August.
  • Forward Madison FC: USL League One men's soccer at Breese Stevens Field, 917 E. Mifflin St., spring to fall, with a Family Fun Zone at select matches. Rally Madison FC, a women's team in the USL W League, plays there May to July.
  • Madison Radicals: professional ultimate at Breese Stevens, May to July.
  • At Breese Stevens: there's no dedicated parking lot, so bike (there's an indoor bike valet at Gate 8), take the bus or rideshare. Bags over 5 by 7 inches must be clear and no larger than 12 by 12 by 6, with no backpacks or umbrellas, and the stadium is cashless.
