Choosing a dry cleaner or laundromat in the Madison area
Point out stains when you drop off, and say what caused them if you know; some stains set permanently with heat. Check pockets and ask about the price for delicate fabrics, wedding gowns and household items like comforters and drapes before you leave them.
Pick items up promptly. Under Wisconsin law, a shop can sell clothes that haven't been picked up for six months or more, after sending you a registered letter at least 30 days before the sale.
For wash-and-fold or pickup and delivery service, ask whether pricing is by the pound or the bag, and how they handle items that need hang-drying.
