Choosing a self storage facility in Madison
Compare the monthly rate and the move-in specials, and ask how much the rent can go up and how often. Ask whether you need the facility's insurance or whether your homeowner's or renter's policy already covers stored belongings. Climate control is worth it for wood furniture, electronics, documents and photos through Wisconsin's humid summers and cold winters.

If you fall behind, Wisconsin law spells out what the facility must do before selling your things: a first notice, then a second by verified mail (or email with confirmed receipt) giving at least 14 days to pay and the date, time and place of the sale, and a newspaper notice at least 15 days before the sale. You can get your belongings back by paying in full any time before the sale.
Keep your contact information current with the facility so those notices reach you.
